other side of the city this morning oakland police also investigating a shooting that left two people dead this morning. the gunfire broke out on the 800 block of mead. that is right near san pablo. shell casings can be seen there on the street. police are not releasing very much information in the victims in that case. no information at all on who those people are. whether they were men or women or what may have led up to the shooting there. before the latest killings this morning oakland homicide count stood at 127. already a five-year high. now as we come back out here live, you can see squad cars still parked in front of this apartment building. we are told this will remain an active crime scene. they still have to wait for the coroner to arye. a woman found stabbed to death this morning in oakland. live in oakland this morning alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. >>> a woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle fleeing from the chp in oakland. this incident all began with what appeared to be a routine traffic stop. christien kafton is at golf link road. christien. >> reporter

pole in the sunset district. 8400 customers lost power in daly city ground saturating rain caused a 50-foot pine tree to fall on southbound 280. problem blocked two lanes and backed up traffic for an hour. >>> drivers in lafayette dealing with another big problem. a huge sink hole. part of mountain view drive collapsed yesterday. ktvu channel 2 reporter alex savidge is out there with what caused this mess and the work needed to fix it. good morning, alex. >> reporter: a flooded creek is what caused this huge sink hole out here in lafayette. later on crews will be back out here at the scene of this collapse here. they will be using an excavator you might be able to see. it's been brought out here so they can dig degree out of this creek and eventually hopefully secure this sink hole entirely. it will be a long slow process to build this roadway that collapsed yesterday. it could take months to do that. yesterday heavy rain overflowed the creek. and then late in the afternoon the soil eroded and the pavement just gave way. that is what created the sink hole. under ground utilities wer

the city. is a lot of people will not want to take their cars. bay area transit agencies are making it easier for them to leave their cars behind by offering free rides in some cases and extended service. starting with bart. bart you will still have to pay for your tickets but their trains will be running late tonight until 3:00 a.m. tuesday morning. but in order to avoid congestion, trains will not be stopping at all the stations. keep this in mind if you are riding the pepper bay point train it will stop at the embarcadero station. make sure you go to the right place to catch your ride home. muni is also extending service at the west portal and embarcadero stations. muni will run until 4:00 a.m. new years day. and fourth and king muni will run until 2:15 a.m.. muni will be free for riders starting from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.. caltrain and samtrans will be giving free rides. the last train will leave at 2:15 a.m.. there are a lot of options, three free options for those looking to enjoy new years eve celebrations in san francisco. live in san francisco allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 n

city. all the little neighborhoods. always tweet me sp weather if it's raining or cloudy. we have a system coming in. very weak system. again it's just going to go parallel to the coast. it will give us a lot of cloud cover and very little rain. in fact, those near the coast i think most will stay offshore. in this kind of pattern it looks good. but we can still see read starting to pick up. there could be a little bit postal areas. but again these systems when they split and when the low goes parallel to the coast it's really, really tough to generate rain. 30s on the temps. you can see i just think the cloud cover will stop cooling of the atmosphere now. still though a lot of that cold air is trapped. so it's going to be a tough day to warm up past upper 40s or low 50s. our system is splitting. you can see as it comes in watch as it backs off. that all take a lot of that rain away from us. that close. it's that close. cloudy, cool. light rain very, very chilly hay temps today. in fact, i don't think they travel very high. unless you are right by the bay. then you might get mid 50s
